Welcome to Plainfield
With deep roots, the Village of Plainfield is the oldest community in Will County, having been settled as early as 1826. Downtown Plainfield, which is the heart of the community, is a vibrant, pedestrian-focused destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment.
Each year, the downtown is home to a number of special events including Plainfield Fest, classic car nights, movies, and concerts. Plainfield is also home to the Lake Renwick Heron Rookery, numerous historic districts and landmarks, a wonderful park, trail system, and the DuPage River.
Plainfield is host to the Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 which serves a number of surrounding communities. Plainfield is also serviced by Oswego School District 308 and Indian Prairie School District 204. In addition, Plainfield and the surrounding areas offer a number of private school options and institutions of higher education.
These include Joliet Junior College, Aurora University, North Central College, Benedictine University, College of DuPage, DeVry University, Governs State University, Northern Illinois University and Universal Technical Institute (automotive trade school.)
